As a Telecommunications Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting Port Houston operations by efficiently managing both emergency and non-emergency phone calls. Your responsibilities will include evaluating and prioritizing calls, dispatching personnel, and performing necessary administrative duties with precision. Position Summary:

Operating a high-tech multi-channel radio console system will be one of your primary tasks as you dispatch Port Police and Fire units to respond to various calls for service. You will also coordinate communications between different entities, monitor vessel traffic movements, and ensure accurate record-keeping of all operational activities.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

• Operate a multi-channel radio console system
• Dispatch Port Police and Fire units to emergency and non-emergency calls
• Coordinate communications with various agencies
• Monitor vessel traffic and maintain accurate records
• Update electronic databases and create water service tickets
• Assist in Emergency Management functions and maintain security records
• Act in accordance with Port Houston core values

Education/Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Some college education preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of related emergency dispatch experience required
• Necessary certifications to be obtained within specific timelines

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors:

• Strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant software
• Familiarity with law enforcement telecommunication systems and databases
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills
• Effective problem-solving and communication abilities
• Capability to work under pressure and handle confidential information with discretion
