Job title: General Kitchen Assistant
Salary: £23,151.48 pro rata
Hours: 10 - 20 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

We are currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a General Kitchen Assistant. In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues to deliver a top-notch catering service. Your responsibilities will include working closely with school staff, as well as interacting with parents and children on a regular basis, adding variety and interest to your everyday tasks.

Your Role

As part of the Catering Leeds team, we have high expectations for our operations. From managing special dietary requirements to upkeeping catering equipment, we strive for excellence in every aspect.

With over 25 years of expertise in Food Education, we are dedicated to providing outstanding service to schools and nurseries. Our primary focus is on enhancing customer experiences and fostering strong partnerships that benefit the children of Leeds, preparing them for learning and life.

Your primary duties will involve assisting in food preparation, cooking, and service provision, ensuring efficient and courteous customer service. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and service areas, preparing the dining room for service, and adhering to health and safety regulations. Previous experience in catering is preferred for this role. This position is term-time only, requiring 39 weeks of work per year, along with 3 cleaning days and 2 training days.

Job Purpose

Your role will involve supporting the delivery of a top-quality catering service.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in food and drink preparation, cooking, and service provision
  • Providing prompt and courteous customer service
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and service areas
  • Setting up and clearing the dining area before and after service
  • Adhering to Health, Safety, and Food Hygiene Regulations
  • Promoting the objectives of the Catering Agency through quality service delivery
  • Performing commensurate duties in various operational areas as necessary
  • Collaborating with team members, following instructions, and communicating effectively
  • Wearing appropriate protective clothing as required
  • Attending training courses and seminars as directed

Desirable Requirements Applicants with the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Proficient in basic ingredient preparation and kitchen procedures
  • Knowledgeable about the Food Safety Act and commercial kitchen equipment
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000/2000 procedures, cleaning protocols, and Health, Safety procedures
  • Experience in catering organizations and working collaboratively with interruptions
