UPS is presently seeking a Part-time Driver Assistant / Walker at a designated site in Ottawa. Commencing at $17.30 per hour. The incumbent will support UPS Package Drivers in facilitating deliveries and collections of UPS packages at designated drop boxes and customer premises along a specified route. The role entails operating in a dynamic, physically-demanding environment that involves continual handling, moving, and conveying of packages. The primary focus of this position is to ensure superior customer service through efficiency and dedication.

Job Details:

  • Job Classifications: Part-time (Field job)
  • Job Type: Permanent/ Hourly
  • Job Location: Meeting points are scattered throughout Ottawa. The main meeting point is situated at Rideau Centre
  • Work days: Monday - Fridays*
  • Scheduled Shift: 3-5 hours per shift, commencing between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm
  • The Driver Assistant is required to work five days a week with slight variations in shift timings. Shift hours may be subject to change based on package volume fluctuations.
  • The Driver Assistant collaborates with the full-time delivery driver. Responsibilities include parcel delivery within a defined area within a specified timeframe—either on foot using a hand cart.

Requirements

  • Monday to Friday - 5 days per week (3 - 5 hours per shift)
  • Must be willing to spend 3 – 5 hours outdoors in delivering parcels within a designated area
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Proficiency in handling postal codes, routing charts, and maps
  • Capable of lifting up to 70-lbs (32-kg) – equipped with a hand cart. This role necessitates physical movement in and out of the delivery vehicle multiple times a day.
  • Adherence to UPS appearance standards
  • Potential for additional hours during peak seasons
  • Driver’s license not mandatory
  • Permanent role
  • Must be capable of working up to 25 hours per week.
  • Commencement of work immediately after orientation or as per schedule.
