Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Librarian to join our team at Toronto Public Library. As a Librarian, you will be responsible for performing a comprehensive range of clerical duties to support branch operations and customer experience.


Responsibilities

  • Assist staff with specialized tasks
  • Support patrons under the supervision of the senior librarian
  • Manage circulation of materials and handle incoming calls
  • Perform clerical duties such as file maintenance, supply ordering, and mail sorting
  • Handle cash transactions including collection, counting, and deposits
  • Assist patrons in utilizing specialized equipment
  • Organize and maintain library collections
  • Conduct typing tasks including reports and correspondence
  • Participate in library programs for diverse audiences
  • Respond to general inquiries regarding library materials and policies
  • Work at various branches or divisions as needed


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Understanding of public service principles and equity
  • Ability to interact effectively with patrons of all backgrounds and ages
  • Familiarity with public library collections and reference sources
  • Knowledge of library procedures and classification systems
  • Keyboarding proficiency with accuracy and speed
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility and adaptability
